The best way to get involved in the garden is to attend one of our Sunday meetings (second Sunday of every month unless posted) at 12 noon, during the season (April-October 31). We ask that you come at 11:30am for a short orientation. At the meeting you will meet many of the members and can start pitching in right away.
You can also come by during posted open hours (Thursday 5-7pm, Saturday and Sunday 12 to 4pm). We also open as much as possible when we have two or more volunteers. Come by and talk to the gardener on duty. You can also see if Bob Humber, head gardener, is around during the day. You can sometimes find him in the senior center at 30 Delancey Street which is attached to the garden (during the day this is seniors protected space).
We ask people who want to join the garden to do open hours, welcome people and take out the trash. We ask for a season of work alongside an experienced gardener. If it has worked out well, you can apply for a key and a plot (or just the key).
