The Pond Is Alive

In the cold dead of winter, the fish hover near the bottom in a form of hibernation called torpor. They won’t eat again until spring. But they require oxygen. So the aerator goes 24/7 throughout the year. Unless there’s a protracted time of sub-freezing weather, the aerator will maintain a hole in the ice, creating a beautiful ice and bubble display.
